Default SquareTrade is really really awesome.

I wanted to post about my experience making a claim on the SquareTrade warranty that I purchased for my Nook 3G.

On a recent vacation to the Dominican Republic, I spilled water on my nook and didn't notice it until well over an hour later. I couldn't even try putting it in uncooked rice, because the hotel staff had no idea what I was asking for and my spanish isn't good enough to properly explain what I needed.

I called SquareTrade on Monday around 11am. I explained to them what happened with the water. The customer service rep was very nice and said that since it was water damaged, they wouldn't even try to repair it.

He noted that I had failed to store my receipt with them electronically. I explained that my receipt was lost shortly after I purchased the Nook, and I had been working with Barnes and Noble for several months trying to get a reprint (which was unsuccessful - I just kept getting the runaround!). He said that if I had the credit card statement from when I purchased it, that would be sufficient for their records!!!

I emailed them the blacked out credit card statement and within 10 minutes my receipt was approved as well as my claim. I was emailed a prepaid return shipping label and told to pack up my nook & the power cord and ship it off to them.

I dropped off the Nook with UPS on wednesday afternoon. By wednesday evening at 5pm, I had an email from SquareTrade that the $199.00 (my full purchase amount) had been deposited into my Paypal account. Apparently just having UPS scan the package was enough to trigger my refund payment.

I have since purchased a Nook ST (I actually bought it before I got the refund because I am impatient, was in the middle of a book, and figured it would be a week before I saw my refund)

I bought a SquareTrade warranty for my new Nook right away. I am so beyond pleased with my ST experience that I wanted to share it with you guys. They really are a stand up company. Do not hesitate to cover your Nook or any other electronics.

Good to hear this, thanks! I bought my first Square Trade warranty for my new Sony 950, though I sure hope I never actually have to use the warranty! Still, nice to know they have good customer service!

Glad to hear it. I have their warranty on my original nook and also hope I don't have to use it.

I bought it for my NC. Seemed like a better way to go.
Got the 2 year plan, cheaper than the B&N plan and the coverage seemed better.
Just looked at my policy and it is 3 year with the accidental damage. Yippie!

I just logged on here to see what everyone's experience with Square Trade was. good timing! I have a nook 3g that I got a warranty for a year ago and its recently developed a cluster of dead pixels. I filed a claim online today but realized I hadn't sent them my receipt. So I will do that tomorrow. I was hoping the turnaround time was fast, because I hate to be without it for long and because I am having a baby in a month and would really hate to be stuck in the hospital for several days without it!

To be stuck anywhere with a 3g would stink without a power outlet.
You might be better off replacing it with the ST.

I never had a problem with the battery power with my 3g and it got used a lot! But I did get a ST today, love it! Its so little and light. Going to buy another warranty when they have a 30%, very worth it.

Totally agree with Ally, square trade is awesome, super easy to deal with, quick, no hassles, a must.

Just grabbed a SquareTrade warranty for my Nook ST Reader at 20% off with code JULY04

Makes a three year warranty for it less than $10 a year...

    Just sayin' ...

I happened upon this thread while watching a segment on CBS Sunday Morning about customer service. Generally, it seems to suck. It's great to hear of positive experiences in the area!
