    Default Lending with the Nook

Can someone please tell me where to get information about lending with the nook? I did a search on "lending" but didn't find anything. Maybe I searched on the wrong word?

Do you mean the 'lend me' books? I am pretty sure there is a thread here somewhere *shuffles papers, looks under the table* that talks about it. I know there is information on the BN website. Basically, you get the email address of the person you want to lend to. You enter that into your BN account. You share the books you have that are lendable and others do the same in return. I have never lent a book so I don' t know the specifics, but I do know it is spelled out on the BN website. And I'm sure it's here somewhere *wanders off to check in the
crisper in case it got misfiled* AHA! Look under 'nooboards reading corner'. The topic is 'nook lending'. Basic stuff to know: you can only lend a book once. You can only lend books that say 'lend me' on them (a white banner on the upper right of the cover). You can't read the book while it is lent out. Sometimes books that were 'lend me' when you bought them get their status changed after you buy them and they are no longer lendable (I think this should be illegal. If I buy a book with the right to lend it, that is part of the purchase contract).

Is it true you can lend a book only ONCE?? That is totally UNFAIR! I sincerely hope B&N will change that.

It is not up to Barnes & Noble though, it is up to the publishers. And most aren't that keen on the lending thing anyway. So I wouldn't count on it changing soon.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask - but i was wondering if there is a way to buy a read to me nook book and after i record it send it to my granddaughter (who lives in another state) so that Meme can read her a story. I don't see that any of the childrens books are lendable so even if i had to buy one for her as well. Any help would be appreciated.

Is there a time limit how long the person borrowing it can take to read it? I know library books have a time limit.

Time limit is either 5 or 10 days. I found out the hard way when I loaned a book to my wife and it expired while she was reading it. And as noted above, you cannot re-lend the book.

Well, you can lend the books more often, if you are willing to lend your device as well. That is what I do. I take my friend's and give him/her mine. I _think_ official lending is for 2 weeks total, but I've never lent a book that way so I'm not positively sure.

That's a possibility, just trade Nooks. Or buy an extra Nook and let somebody borrow that.
