    Default Nook Touch-Internet Connect ??

Am confused about the ability of the (my) Nook Touch to use the internet to log on to web sites such as Google. I "read" that the upgraded version (1.1) does NOT have this ability. I also read about owners who have the 1.1 version who claim to use the Web to make contact without rooting their Nook Touch. They do not indicate how they do this.

Can anyone clear this up for me ?

I read this morning on facebook that the simple nook has been having connectivity problems in general and that BN is working on a fix. So, maybe some people can do some stuff and others can do other stuff, depending on router type and wifi strength and so on?

I have the first Nook and like it. Now, I got my parents each a ST for Christmas. I set them up with one account at B&N and registered both devices for them. I set up each one with the WEP codes to automatically connect to their wifi at their house. For some unknown reason one of their Nooks has gotten disconnected twice from their wifi and won't reconnect. Even when typing in the code and trying again. I've had to un-register it and re-register it. It's a puzzler to me. Woops, I guess this isn't really related to the original question. I thought the ST wasn't really made for surfing the web? Only shopping at B&N?
    Love to motorhome and Corvette.
