Default Very Frustrated; Cannot Change Email

So I got my Nook in Jan and I have loved every minute of our relationship. Today I decided to change email addressed and went to my B&N account and changed it through them. For the record I did not start a new account, simply changed the email address associated with the account. Anyway, I went to my Nook and decided I needed to change it there. I cannot find a place to simply change the login information or even just the email. So I decided I should unregister and register using the new information.

I click on unregister device and get a screen that says invalid email address and that this email address is not associated with a B&N account. Well, of course its not. I change it. So when it gives me a screen to change the email address I enter the correct information (I have entered it 4-5 times so I know it is correct) it says the device is already registered. When I go to the B&N site it says I have to unregister from the device.

What do I do? At this point I have a Nook that will not allow me to update any information due to an invalid email address. However, it also will not allow me to change or unregister the device. I am very frustrated right now.

I'm not sure what to tell you but I think that sometimes it can take up to an hour for any changes made to your B&N account to actually show up. Have you tried changing your B&N account back to the old email address? Maybe what should be done first is to unregister it, change your account at B&N and then re-register. I have not tried to change my email address so I'm only guessing here.

Down at the bottom of your B&N Account page there is also a "my nook" link which you can use to de-register your Nook. You could also try this.

I did change back to the original email and password and it works. I will try de-register the Nook and then change the email. As for the link on the B&N page...I did this and it said to de-register on the Nook itself, but it gave me the option to change the email address. That did not work.

Ill keep you all updated. Thanks for the help.

Michael, maybe in forum tips, or wherever something like this would go, there could be directions about changing B&N email or passwords. I just read today that before making those changes one should deregister their nook and reregister after the change.

That's a good suggestion, Cat. One I've also been thinking about. I just have to find the time to do it. My real world job has be kind of busy at the mo'.

Riseinside, if you would like to write up what you did to get your email address changed and post it to the Nook Tech Support forum I'll make it a sticky.

That was perfect, thanks. I modified the thread title a little, just added "on your nook" so it is a bit more specific, and I made it a sticky.
