Ads flashing on and off driving me doolally!

I suffer with migraines and fibromyalgia and I really find the ads flickering on and off affecting me. Is there anything that can be done about it? It would be OK if the ads/banners stayed still. They are at top and bottom of pages. I have to scroll up or down to avoid them.

There are ad blocking plugins available for the various web browsers which block out ads.
What browser/system do you use?
