    Default Lines down screen

I have two lines down my screen in the e-ink on my Nook and it did not bother me at first, but there were only two thin lines in the beginning, but now there is one thin and one a bit thicker. They are still not very noticeable when reading, but I am concerned that the lines will multiply or get thicker. Has anyone experienced this and is there any solution?

I think you should contact B&N. I have seen this symptom on Sony eink screens and from what I have seen it is likely to get worse. Not good! I hope that this is not common issue with eink.

Thanks, I had a similar problem in the past and I tried something that cleaned it up, but the problem is I cannot remember what I did. Will call B&N and see if there is anything I can do. I'm afraid if I ignore it too long it will create a permanent burn.

I know this is kind of the standard response to problems but have you tried turning it off and taking the battery out? Perhaps removing power from the screen altogether will clear it up.

I do know one thing you can't burn an eink screen like CRT monitors. So I wouldn't worry about that. Michael makes a good point. A complete drain may fix the problem.

Michael, I have tried a complete drain, but when the battery is out and the eink screen is blank, I still see the lines barely. Maybe I need to leave it off a little longer. I just did it for a couple of minutes.

It appears from what I can tell that there are two causes for this problem. One is a line out problem and the other would be an electrical glitch. If it is a line out it should be replaced under warranty. If it is a glitch a complete and full recharge should resolve the issue. Apparently eink can have these lines if the battery is allowed to get too low.

Thanks, after work today I will leave the battery out as long as I can, then give it a full charge, but I do that every other night. If that doesn't fix it, I will request a replacement.
