I know this should be in the manuel. How do I transfer books from my comptuer to my nook? If someone could tell me step by step it would be a big help.

Anne - Probably the easiest and simplest way is to use the exlpore feature in Windows as long as you know what folder you have stored your ebooks.

    1. plug in your USB cable to the nook and then into your USB input on your computer. Most computers have a USB input on the front these days and laptops on the side or back.

    2. You will see windows recognize the device.

    3. Right-click on Start and go to Explore.

    4. Locate your ebook folder

    5. Find the My Documents folder on your nook

6.Grab, drag and drop the ebook into the My Documents folder.

    7. Repeat as necessary

    8. Unplug nook from computer

    9. On the nook do a Search For New Content

    10. You new files should show up in the My Documents folder.

Of course you can use the free software program Calibre also but it takes just a little more skill and explaining. It is worth downloading and playing with it though. It has a send to device feature built right in and if your ebook is not in the correct format it will reformat it for you.

    Good luck!

Thanks Kevin I am going to print this out. Do I have to have the books in one folder on my computer? Or can I just take the books from where how have them downloaded?

No you don't have to have them in one folder. Although it makes it easier to highlight and grab more than one at a time for the drag and drop.

I just "right click" the ebook I want, "send to....my nook drive" and then move them into whatever folder I want. I have calibre but haven't used it for that yet.

I don't have my nook yet (not till the 11th when it ships)...but I have purchased all my ebooks in mobi in the past. Is there a way that I can read them on the Nook? I probably have over 2,000 ebooks in that format. If i can't read them directly, is there a way to change them into a format the nook recognizes and what would be the best way to do that?

The first thing you should do is go back to where you originally purchased the ebooks from and see if they will allow you to download them again in a format Nook supports. If that isn't possible and the ebooks you own are DRM free you can use Calibre to convert them to .epub files then sync them to your Nook. If they are infected with DRM I'm afraid we can't help you with that. However Google is your friend.

If they are not e-books from BN, I use Calibre and just click on the e-book I to send to my Nook and then click the send to reader button. It's really easy!
