So I finally decided to do it and order a Nook. I have a gift credit card to use that will not cover the whole thing so I was going to put the rest on my regular card. Can't do it. Their site will not allow for multiple cards on one purchase. I called CS and he confirmed this so I asked if I can place the order over the phone and no deal. One card only.

Not so sure I will go for it after all. Nothing against the device but the CS is about as bad as I have dealt with. I manage a help desk and if one of my staff handled a caller like this they would be written up.

Very disappointing. I guess I'll wait for them to have local stock so I can use two cards.

I used a Credit Card and a BN gift card to buy mine. Well the gift card covered the warranty but they have to be bought as one transacation, and mine worked.

Yeah, gift cards are different, they have a place to enter them other than the credit card area.

I'm thinking I can just buy a gift card with the credit card and then use that in the order.

I think I need to get some Benny Hill music going for my background first. lol

EDIT: I'm waiting for them to be in stock locally, this feels like an omen for some reason.

Oh no!!  I hope you get it worked out... I love my nook so much, I'd hate to think the only reason you don't get one is because of one rude, unhelpful CS person!!  It's worth the aggravation!   afro

Could you not take the gift cards off your B&N account and go purchase one through a store and use your certificates? I'm sure you can. An I agree with Brazen, don't let one bad CS rep ruin things for you purchasing one. Who needs customer service anyway? You have us!  afro

No truer words!!  Really... I know everything I do about my nook because of the folks here at nook boards.  I've been to my local B&N and both times the woman at the demo desk was absolutely clueless about my questions.  Once you get that little baby in your hands, you'll be so happy!!  And keep posting here w/ questions; I did.   grin

Oh I'm not out yet, just gonna wait for local stock. Funny it was mentioned about the store staff. I called them today to get an idea of when they will be in and she said they're not shipping the existing orders until 2/12. So I said "Erm, they have been shipping those since last week." I got silence and a regurgitation.

Oh well, I'll call them on Wed to see if any strange boxes that don't quite look like they would have books in them are there lol.

And thank you for the support, I have been lurking for a week or so and decided that this is the group I would use based on the helpfulness of you all.

See my comment above, gift cards are not the same as CCs. You can use many GCs along with a CC, You can't use multiple CCs.

I did the same thing, only with more gift cards.  You can absolutely "stack" gift cards, using multiple gcs, and then use your credit card to cover the remaining balance. I know, because I did it.  And the nook sitting right next to me as I type this is proof. Just make sure you're putting the gift card number in the gc field, NOT in the credit card number field.

Well it's a moot point now that I have my Nook but my issue was not with gift cards, it was with using multiple credit cards. At any rate, the local store was able to process the order with two credit cards.

I think you ran into a CSR who didn't know what they were talking about.  I used points from various things (mypoints.com and airline mile clubs) to get gift cards to purchase my Nook (love it - and am a new Nook Board member).  All in all, I had 9 gift cards.  When I went to order it, I saw that I could only enter up to 3 cards online - I almost had a stroke after cashing in so many points to get gift cards - so I called BN Cust. Service (on a Sunday no less) and explained it to the CSR, she indicated that as I could enter the 3 cards allowed, and instead of paying the remainder online - I could pay the remainder by telephone and they would enter remaining cards.  After placing the order, I waited for the e-mail from BN so that I knew they had my order (received it within 30 minutes), I called them.  However, take the option to speak directly with a CSR.  I originally took the option to key in gift cards, and got through 5 of them, and the 6th wasn't working so had to speak with CSR anyway and she ended up reentering all of them.

Also, just as a side note, they will allow you to use up to 10 gift cards for one purchase.

Hope this helps.  Sometimes, it helps to explain more than one way to a CSR before they understand what your trying to accomplish - I've come across with this in more than one business.
