Hey all, I just wanted to let everyone know that I've setup an easy way to gather and collect all the things that we'd like to tell Barnes & Noble to enhance or update in the already awesome device that is the Nook. By using Google Moderator you can suggest things and vote on the ideas you like. If we gather enough users and enough followers, the hopes is that B&N will take note, as they have with a number of improvements since the 1.0 software. Check out the link here:

How to Fix the Nook

Spread the word, hopefully this will help the B&N developers to prioritize their new features in the next update. Thanks!

The problem is the system employed is flawed!  I made a suggestion a couple days ago, 12 people voted they thought it was a good idea, no one voted that they didn't like it, but then one person comes along and apparently flagged it as being innappropriate and it was removed.  I guess 12 people were wrong and one was right!  I tried...  Good luck with your project, but I don't see it having much value if suggestions are arbitrarily removed with no explanation as to why...  If this were a true brainstorming project, there would be no inappropriate suggestions, unless they were vulgar or in no way related to B&N and the nook!

BTW, my inappropriate suggestion was that B&N extend member benefits and discounts to ebooks being as there is currently no incentive for nook owners to join if all they purchase are ebooks...  12 others apparently thought it was a good idea too...  Oh well it probably didn't last long enough for B&N to ever see it, if they were even looking...

First, I doubt B&N will take very kindly being told how to "fix" their product. The title of your group implies the entire device is simply broken, which it isn't. It has some flaws that can be addressed but the entire thing doesn't need to be "fixed."

Second, how will this information be delivered to B&N? Or are you hoping someone from B&N who is in charge of Nook will just find it and exclaim "I never thought of that! Let's put that in right away." As I said in a previous post, in reply to this, it seems to me that it will be far more effective if we use B&N's webmail form to send in feedback that voting on features on this group that B&N will probably never see. Not that I don't admire your desire to see Nook improved. I just think you could provide feedback in a more effective and persuasive way.

Regards,
Michael

Paul58: I remember your post, and there was a response posted prior to it being flagged. To explain again: There are 3 topics, software, B&N eBookstore, and Hardware. Your suggestion was a Bookstore suggestion, that had to do with member discounts. I've reposted it in the correct topic. On any flags, I post a response to the suggestion in question and wait anywhere from 1-2 days to see any action being taken and then flag to remove it.  Thanks for the suggestion and feel free to return vote some more. Sorry for the offense.

Klaatu: I also believe there are better ways let B&N hear feedback from their customers. But there is no way to organize and prioritize them for the customer either. They may have their own system that they use from the gathered feedback, but there are may options from other people that when they see it they go, "That's a great idea, I've never realized why I didn't use that feature, if it did that I'd start to use it." or something along those lines. As far as how B&N will see it, if it gathers enough traction I doubt a B&N employee won't see it. But I have no delusions, after it gathers some speed and grows I plan on making personal contact with B&N. Whether they listen, well that's up to them. But I do want to see some of these ideas fly and I'll do my part to make that happen.

All I'm trying to do here is organize the ideas. We have these forums and our websites, but there tends to be no organization. So let's get some organization in here. Thanks for your comments.
