    Default Battery Life Help

My battery is only lasting a few hours it seems. I know this can't be normal, so I was wondering if I have a bum battery, or if I am doing something wrong. It is probably me... Here is what I do, I have airplane mode on (meaning wifi is off) and I read, using the touch screen flip to turn pages. When I am done reading I simply put the nook down, I don't hit the power button or anything. As an example, I did a full charge last night, read for maybe two hours before bed, then today read for 30 minutes before I noticed the battery life bar was way down, I looked and it had 28% left.

My Nook does not travel with me, so it wasn't accidently changing pages while I was on the move. I know I should have better battery life than this, so help me out folks what am I doing wrong, or did i just get a bum battery? If so I hope it is covered under warranty, this little guy isn't a month old yet, would hate to pay $30 for another battery.

How many times have you charged it? Sometimes takes 3-4 good full 4hr charges to get it's wind.
Have you let it run down below 20% then recharged? Recommended
Have you removed it and but back in? Also recommended.

Do you have a bad battery? Quite possible and should cost a cent.
Take to a B&N store and complain about the battery life. They should already
be aware that there were some bad batches of batteries out there over the last 3months.

I have had it since July 1st and I have probably been charging it every 3 days or so, several times overnight. I have always let it drain below 20% before charging, trying to help prolong the battery. I have not yanked it yet, I will try that before I charge it again. If that doesn't help I will take it in. I didn't know there had been battery issues lately, that will help with my complaint if in fact I have one. Thanks.

if you have done any genetic changes to your nook (softroot)

    https://www.nookboards.com/forum/index.php?topic=2264.0

that's a thread on the same issue.

if not i'm sure a techie will run into this thread soon however
reading around i see that it happens often and it just happens
for a short amount of time.. don't turn your nook off to charge
it doesn't register the charge. and plug it into a wall instead of a computer
with it on. computer goes to sleep so does the charge

Do you have the unit in airplane mode? If not try that because it might be the wifi is draining you.

I have not rooted my nook (yet), so maybe it is a temporary thing. I do have Airplane mode on Ktrek, I usually side load my books, so I don't think wifi has been on for more than 10 minutes just to see it. I will keep trying, B&N is directly on my way home every day, so if need be I will just stop in and see what they have to say. Thanks guys.

I read on the board that one of our regulars had the same problem but the battery issue finally resolved itself after several charges. Not sure how long that took though.
