    Default Turning Pages...

So, I'm reading my first book on the nook. I'm about half way through and I've got a question about turning pages by sweeping my finger over the touch screen. It seems like I have to kind of do it overly rough. (pressing down hard and sweeping very fast) I have the android app on my phone and I can just lightly sweep my finger on the screen to turn the page. On the nook, sometimes I have to try 2 or 3 times then I get mad because I should have just pressed the button. Is this a normal thing or should I consider returning it for a new one?

I think your experience is pretty typical. You'll find its 'sweet spot' soon and it will become really easy and automatic for you.

Most find that starting on the bezel and sweeping into the touch screen works very well.
And it's more of a flick than a swipe.

It was the same thing for me. However someone posted a video here...and it worked for me. I don't know who posted it, but if you start on the top left corner of the touch screen and go diagonally down at a 45 degree angle, it should work.

I find mine will turn about 85% of the time, no matter where I start on the screen, or how far I sweep across.

I typically use my thumb, a quick swipe cutting across the lower right hand corner of the screen.

I swipe on the dark bar between the LCD screen and the e-ink screen using a light touch, and that works really well for me. It also helps keep fingerprints off the LCD screen.

Applying too much pressure makes the touchscreen come back on. For me, it responds to the lightest touch. I rarely use the large screen, but the bar that separates the touch screen and the page display.

This is what I do as well, and it works about 95%.

I tried it on my friend's Nook a few weeks ago and had good luck but this weekend I tried it on one in the store and couldnt get it to work. I checked the os and it was 1.4 so not sure if I just had a brain fart or what. I'll be buying my own soon so I'll just have to figure it out then.
