Have you considered using an MP3 player for you audiobooks? Many will support all of the common formats used - audible, MP3, WMA.

That's what I do. My Nook Color is too big and heavy to lug around for audiobooks. I find my Sansa Clip+ to be far more convenient (besides, it's always with me).

A google search will show converter programs which can be pointed at an audible book in .aa format and convert them to .mp3.

I've been a long time auidible buyer and I resent the fact that they don't provide the ability to play these on Nooks, not only that, but then they blame Nook for it when they could easily provide access. I shouldn't have to carry around four products...

Tested using my rooted NC and some debugging tools.

The Audible app will install and appear to function fine up to the point you try to start a book. It won't play the library files since it fails their client-->server DeviceID check (basically the problem is the NC gives back a different DeviceID everytime). Because of this the app will ask you to re-authenticate in an endless loop.

However the Kindle App will work fine for anything buy on your Amazon account via your computer (or another supported device) or just sideload. You just can't use the Kindle Market from within the app. Their server-side scripts don't recognize or allow the device (you'll get a nice misleading Page Not Found error).

The Google Books app works great. No issues.

It's nice to have a super-powered book reader
