Sure enough... "And Another Thing...". Who knew?? It's not from Adams though, for obvious reasons.. is it any good?

Woohoo! link doesn't work for me, but I got there.

I'm curious, if anyone else reads it, whether they think it was for teens.

Fixed the link, sorry about that. I want to know too! I will not be reading it I think as I do not like reading scary stories. It ruins my whole day.

In another conversation, we were talking about cryptography and the discussion reminded me of a REALLY great book. Seeing as how this is a book board, I may as well recommend it! haha
The book is: "The Code Book" by Simon Singh. It's fantastic. Even my non-techie wife loved it. Reviews on Amazon:

    5-star: 218
    4-star: 43
    3-star: 6
    2-star: 1
    1-star: 1

Anyway, it's not a textbook on the subject; it's really well-written and very facinating. I recommend it to all (not just geeks).

Sadly not in digital form yet, but it looks really interesting!! Hopefully it'll be out in digital soon! Hmmmm maybe this one would warrant a trip to the library and reading on ... paper? *gasp*

    Thanks for sharing!

In the same vain, I'd recommend The Cuckoo's Egg. It will really appeal to geeks (ahem, IT personnel). The story is dated but to me that makes it even more fascinating. However, it isn't a terribly technical read so anyone could follow the story. Many years ago this book was passed to me by someone in my office who had received the book from another person in the same office. We had more employees then I really enjoyed the book and passed it on. Eventually every one had read it and we started passing it on to family and friends. It is old and tattered now but still resides on the bookshelf with all the other technical books and manuals. Even your friends who don't read (and you know you have a few) will read this book.

As long as you guys won't judge me based on my reading material ....

My favorite series of *all* time is the Outlander Series.

    Other recommendations:
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo trilogy. All 3 books are excellent, but the third book won't be available in the US until early next year.
    All of Harlan Coben's books.
    I've enjoyed Meg Gardiner's books.
The Sookie Stackhouse series, which the HBO series True Blood is based on.

I'll post more as I think of them.

I don’t think anyone would judge you here for what you read! The great thing about have such varied tastes in books is we all get to see what books are good outside our norm, and hey we may just find a wonderful book we never would have read otherwise. Please don’t be afraid to share what you love!

Speaking of which Outlander is also my *all time* favorite series. I am actually re-reading the entire thing right now. It’s the first time I have ever re-read a book, but they are sooo worth it. I just finished Dragonfly and am working on Voyager. (Even the second time around Dragonfly drags LOL). I am working my way up to the newest book, so no spoilers please!! My best friend keeps dropping hints, and I have to stick my fingers in my ears and sing. LOL

FYI for those of you that haven't tried this series, it's by Diana Gabaldon, here is my blog post with all 7 books in order: Blog post

Thanks for your recommendations, some of those are already on my TBR list!!

    Cheers!
