Default Nook compatibility with microSD card.

Hello, is nook compatible with any kind of sandisk microSD cards, not just the ones you can buy at barnes&noble store? Like, can I go to my local shop where there are accessories for digital cameras and use that one instead of purchasing from their website?
Also, is there a software limit as to how far can I extend the memory? If I insert a 32 GB card, will it recognise it? Or have they put a limit to 16 GB?

P.S. What is the difference between microSD and microSDHC or are they the same?

    Thanks!

On page 34 of the manual is says Nook supports up to 16GB cards.

As far as I know a microSDHC card is faster than a microSD card, but other than that there are no significant differences.

Sorry I don't have the manual yet
Hmm.. do you think that is a software issue that they support only up to 16 GB or hardware?
Do you think it could be patched like with a software upgrade?

You can download the manual: http://images.barnesandnoble.com/pim..._NOOK_v1_4.pdf

I suspect the limitation is arbitrarily set in the software, although I don't know why. Perhaps it is a limitation of Android? There's no real information on the limit in the manual or the FAQ.

    @ Atmoix

I am not saying buy SanDisk, but here's some info on the format differences: http://www.sandisk.com/media/File/pdf/SDHC1.pdf

Personally, I buy anywhere that is the cheapest and I trust the etailer (or in your case brick and mortar store).

Nook talk FAQ said get a class 6 speed or better card. That's what i went with, keep in mind The cheaper cards are slower rated, if thats important to you when shopping.

There are some decent pricing on Class 6+ cards I have found... They may not be the 'name brands', but they work just fine in all my digicams and other devices - I haven't tried any of the SDHC cards in my Nook.

I'm not looking for a name brand, that is just ridiculous that some people pay more to show off with some popular brand such as Apple or similar.
I'm looking for a microSD or microSDHC that wouldn't cost too much, but would have a decent capacity and speed. I think I might buy 8 GB card, not sure which manufacturer to choose though, any experiences?

I use nothing but SanDisk in my camera and other electronics. They have never failed me.

Buy from a reputable seller and you're generally okay... I have a variety: PQI, ADATA, Kingston, etc.

I personally like this seller: http://www.supermediastore.com/produ...ax=15&offset=0

Just make sure you compare pricing. Also, the unit above is out of stock.

    (I generally use SDHC cards)
