Default Screensaver images rotate during sleep

I've noticed that my screensaver image is different after leaving the Nook asleep for some time. I'm thinking this is caused by the Nook waking up to do the Library Sync between 5:15 am and 6:00 am (page 92 of user guide version 1.4) and then going to sleep again, thus changing the screensaver image. Has anyone else noticed this? When I'm not using the Nook, I always put it to sleep with airplane mode turned on (I have the wi-fi only model). The reason I'm asking is because I'm wondering if this affects battery life. My Nook only seems to last a few days after a complete charge. I'm assuming this is normal?

I guess it depends on how much you read during that period.
