Default Nook won't recognize content on MicroSD card

I have read a lot of forums, but have never posted, so please bear with me.

I am having problems with my Nook recognizing content on the Micro SDHC card I installed. When I connect it to the USB port, the icons for both the Nook and the SD card are on my desktop. I can add files to the SD card, but then when I disconnect the Nook and try to use the files (Mp3 music files in this case) the Nook says there are no files. If I put them on the internal memory, they work, but not from the SD card. I took the SD card out and put it in the adapter and checked it just in my computer and it seems fine. I am on a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard. I would appreciate any help. Thanks so much.

    Marsha

    Hi, Marsha.

When you are viewing My Documents on your Nook, have you tapped the Check For New Content option on the menu? This must be done so Nook can "see" the new content you've added. If this doesn't work you should power cycle the Nook to get it to see the new content on the Micro SD card.

I have done both (and just did again) but still nothing. When I tap "Open audio player" it says "Load music files via USB" like there is nothing there. The files are Mp3 files and play fine if I put them on the internal memory.

Did you make sure the microSD card is one that is compatible with the nook? The user guide lists which ones are acceptable. I'd post it for you but I don't have immediate access to the list.

I have read the User Guide and saw that it said to use a MicroSD or Micro SDHC, class 2, 4, or 6. I do not see any brand names anywhere so I assume you can use any brand. Am I wrong? Is there a brand name list somewhere?

    Thanks much,
    Marsha

No that's what I was referring to. Brand name should not matter. When you installed the card was the unit completely turned off and then you did a boot up?

How long did you let it sit in the Audio Player? I know when I first loaded music on the SD card and loaded it in, it took literally 45 seconds for the nook to recognize that music existed. I started to give up and finally it popped up with the music instead of the load music notice.

That's probably because the music player has to create a playlist first before it will play anything.

I did not let it sit very long in the audio player, but I've tried that now. Still nothing. I really do appreciate your help trying to figure this out.
