Default own ePub in 1.3 firmware

I started creating ePub files from HTML pages (say an interesting article from a blog, a wikipedia entry, etc.) so I can read it in the Nook. I found I cannot open ePub's. Actually, the nook search for new content and never returns. Am I doing something wrong? bad epub encoding or is just that the official firmware doesn't allow to read non DRMed epubs?

    thanks

Where are you loading it & where are you looking for it? When you connect your nook to your computer, you should be placing the files in the "my documents" folder. When looking for it you have to look not in the B&N Library but in "My Documents" to find the files. See if that helps.

Also how are you creating the .epub from the .html file?

Yes, I'm putting the epubs in the "my documents" folder and looking in the "my documents" but still it doesn't work. Also, I tried putting them in the external microsd but that doesn't help

I see. I just used calibre with predefined options, I'll check if there are special options for the nook.

    thanks!

First of all...if you are using WORD you cannot just save it as a web page or HTML file. It must be web page "filtered". Otherwise it will not convert. Also, you can use this site to convert just about anything to a readable epub that works just fine on the nook.

    There are.
    1. In Calibre open the Prefs and expand the window to its largest size.
    2. Click the Conversion option on the left.
    3. Click the page setup tab in the menu bar along the top of the window. It's the second option.
    4. In the Input Profile and Output Profile areas choose Nook and click OK.

This should help with generating .epubs from the .html files.

Lotsa' smart people here for sure and we also can be nice to boot!

... Do you ever right write (can't type either) something down and look at it and think it just doesn't work as well written as it does in my head... I felt that way about 'nice to boot'... Or should it be 'nice too boot'.
