Hmm. Lets see if I can get ten. There are many I really enjoy but few that are must own and re-read.

Atlas Shrugged (I can decompress the list by adding Fountainhead and Anthem in separately but I will group them.)
The Lord of the Rings (again I could list them separately but I will keep them together just as I will with the next item...)
    The Hitchhiker's Guide.
The Bible (don't read it as much as I should but it has to make the list.)
    The FairTax Book
    Harry Potter (grouped once again)
The Abs Diet Book (not your reghlar fad diet. Well thought out and researched)
    1776
    The Art of War
    Who Moved My Cheese?

I have to compress the series I've read other I'd break past 10 with just two of them.

The Incarnations of Immortality by Piers Anthony
The Belgariad & The Mallorean by David Eddings
Memoirs of A Geisha by Arthur Golden
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
    The Giver by Lois Lowry
    Simon's Choice by Charlotte Castle
The Fever Series by Karen Moning

Hmmm, can't think of another 3 that have impacted my thinking the way these have.

Glad to see some sci-fi/fantasy readers here, and pretty well rounded otherwise.

Series books will be clumped together:

The Hunger Games/Catching Fire (Not Mockingjay, that's for sure)
    Harry Potter
    It's Not About the Bike
    A Path with Heart
    The Things They Carried
    Catch-22
    The Lorax
    The Golden Compass
Rappaccini's Daughter (it's a short story, but it counts)
    Lord of the Rings

I have some in common with others in this thread (always happy to see that )

    • Memory [Lois M. Bujold - her entire Vorkosigan series actually for top spot, especially A Civil Campaign]
    • Against the fall of night [Arthur C.Clarke]
    • Foundation [Asimov]
    • Atlas Shrugged [Rand]
    • The Rama series [Clarke again]
    • Childhood's End [Clarke again, omg! - I'm really just winging this list by thinking about memorable books]
    • The Emperor's new mind [Penrose]
    • The caves of steel [Asimov - and the rest of that series]
    • Heir to the empire [Zahn. Also the rest of the Thrawn trilogy - *cough* ]
    • Applied Economics [Sowell. What can I say? It got me interested in the dismal science ]

Keep 'em coming folks. I love to see other people's list of favorites - great way to add to my to-read list
