    Default Book Club Book Suggestions

Okay so it looks like most people want to do an open format, so we will start with that one first, and of course we can do any other format as time goes on. Now we need to think about picking the book we want to read. We will start the first book club on January 1, so if we decide on a book now you can make sure to wait to read it (or get a head start if you don't think you can read it in a month! )

I think it only makes sense that the person who suggests a book that is chosen is the one that runs the book club for that month. If you have never run a book club before, please don't be scared to suggest books! We can help you put some stuff together, just make sure you suggest a book you have read (and you may want to re-read it and take notes before January). The format of the club will be up to the person who runs it. I have seen some book clubs where a certain number of chapters are assigned each week and questions pertaining to those chapters are posted. Or you can just do one big post at the end of the month with talking points about interesting things in the book. There are plenty of websites out there that can help you come up with questions for almost any book out there.

Right now let's plan on doing a book a month, so try to suggest books that could be easily read in that time frame. We'll start by picking the January book, and I think we could also use these suggestions to pick February and March so the person running it can have time to prepare.

Please don't be scared to run the book club! It will not be a huge time commitment and you will have plenty of time to prepare! Once we have our suggestions here, I will put up a poll and we can vote on the books from there.

    Okay suggest away!

I'll suggest Boomerang by Alan Hutcheson just because I want to help out a new writer.

I'd read Boomerang if it were chosen. Reading a book written by someone on the boards is a great way to kick off the group!

Good suggestions to support the authors on the forum. I'm in the midst of planning a sci fi fantasy reading challenge with quests reading Hugo Winner, Philip K. D.ick and Robert Heinlein so am voting for something in that vein

James Blish "A Case of Conscience"

Philip K. D.ick "Man in the High Castle"

Robert Heinlein "Stranger in a Strange Land"

    Robin of My Two Blessings

Since we're reading a rew release this time, maybe we should go for a classic next time?
