Default Using Calibre to organise and download your Library to the Nook

I much prefer to use this way of cover flowing my Library on the Nook, using Trook.

You need the free programs, Calibre, Calibre2Opds on your PC, Trook on your Nook
    http://calibre-ebook.com/download
    https://launchpad.net/calibre2opds/+download
Install Calibre, organise your library, make a special effort to correct the "Tags" to your liking, ie not loads of repeat tags
I make heavy use of the "edit Metadata" button to download data and covers for my ebooks.
Once you have all the Covers, tags, and reviews to your liking, save and quit Calibre.

Plug in your Nook to the PC via USB cable
    Run Calibre2Opds
Select Nook icon as your Mode
Select the root directory of your Nook 2nd SD card as your destination
    Press "generate"

Calibre2Opds will now transfer your entire Calibre library, book, covers and data to your Nook for you
It took 5 minutes to transfer my 400 books.
When finished, unplug the Usb cable
Start Trook, slide along to "My Books" and select
Slide along and select "My SDcard"
You will find a new ICON, a bookshelf with "calibre" written beside it, select the bookshelf
You can now browse and open all your books by cover and data........
You can even scroll up and down the data beside each book cover, it's really smart IMHO.

Can you still follow these steps in Calibre2opd version 2.3? The destination folder and copy catalog to database folder checkbox are greyed out. And I dont see the Mode that you change to Nook.

The modes are 3 icons at top left of Calibre2opds v2.3 .... bookshelf, PC tower, Nook
Default Mode will not copy a library, it creates a catalog

    Publish mode
    Nook mode

will allow you to copy your library to a Nook

Do I have to hack my Nook in order to use these (except Calibre, I already use that)?

When I transfer using Calibre the books transfer and the book cover is visible when I'm reading on the color screen, but when I am browsing My Documents and view an items details & options the metadata such as the Publisher, Publication Date, and book description (added in comments in Calibre) don't contain the information I added, it seems to just be generic infomation.

If I transfer my books with this program, will that information be viewable on my Nook?

I think you have to softroot to view that information.
B&N designed it that way to 'persuade' you to only buy from them.
