I installed the latest launcher with the custom icons, but was disappointed that I couldn't use icons for My Library, Shop, The Daily, Trook, Reading Now etc that came with the most recent softroot (to clarify, I mean the icons shown on this page: http://nookdevs.com/Mynook.ru_Launcher

The icons in the launcher update for the apps listed above look pretty flat & boring. Am I doing something wrong? Is it possible to get the cool icons I had in the softroot, plus the custom icons?

By the way, I never saw the Audio or Games icons in the softroot version of the launcher. And the B&N Home button went away for some unknown reason. Is there a way I can get these back?

Yeah, I don't think the softroot launcher has either of those.

Long-click (press and hold) on any of the buttons. It should bring up a few icons; press on the "+" which should bring you to a list of available icons you can add.

I do the long-click to get to the "+" menu, but i only see the custom icons I added, but not the nice shiny icons from the previous version that came in the softroot.

    man!..

I would love to be able to change icons!
But I have a nook that was just bought a few days ago..

Do you guys think it'll ever be possible for the newer nooks?

    thanks.

great looking icons by the way!
    nice work.

You can change your icons if you root your Nook, following the directions at nookdevs.com.
I don't expect B&N to allow much customization, at least until/unless they release development tools for the e-ink Nook, which they might do sometime in the future.

    Hey, thanks...

Yeah, i know you need to root the nook to accomplish this..
    However~
    From my searchings...

It is not yet possible to root a "new" nook,
Only certain versions work, (the "older nooks" (1001,1002, etc")

Unless I am completely out of touch here.
But Im pretty sure that is what i have read in a number of places...
    mainly in this forum.

Until very recently, you were correct. But nookdevs has done it again and rooted nooks with 1.4.1 firmware. I *think* this means all e-ink Nooks are now root-able. Here's the tutorial for new firmware!
