Default Help! my rooted nook updated by itself!

So I turned my softrooted Nook on this evening and left the room for five minutes. When I came back it was in the process of rebooting, having downloaded and installed the 1.5 update. Now when I turn my Nook on, a screen appears where I can choose home or launcher. Home takes me to the newly installed 1.5 OS. Launcher takes me to the softrooted 1.4. everything still works, I essentially have a dual bootable Nook now. What do I do?

If both options work I guess you can choose what one you want to work from.

I've been in this situation, too. What you have is B&N firmware, with some left-over apps from nookdevs. This is almost certainly not what you want. What I'd do is to wait for the next softroot to come out and then apply it, following the instructions for a non-softrooted nook (since that is what your nook is now, despite the left-over nookdevs apps). Or, if you want to just go back to a standard B&N configuration, follow the nookdevs steps for un-installing the softroot.

Either way, you'll have to roll back to the 1.0.0 firmware first in order to get your nook back into a desirable state.

At least, this is my understanding of what's going on here. I'm no expert, though.

I should have mentioned, I'm assuming that, like me, you have an older model nook, which will not be "bricked" by the 1.0.0 firmware.

If you used the newer more difficult method to softroot your nook, please disregard this advice!
