    You only get a subtree of the nook, with directories for the content. There's no way to access the main filesystem over USB.

    There is probably some undocumented way of getting it to boot into some sort of diagnostic mode. Usually something like hold the power button while plugging in the USB, etc. It will probably be revealed in time.

    You can boot into firmware update mode by holding down both the buttons on either side, which causes it to check partitions for firmware updates. It doesn't seem to present as a USB device while this is going on, though.
