I thought Helen and Paul saw the woman in black at a bus stop while in Romania. Darn I wish I could find it. Maybe I'm thinking of the narrator but I coulda swore it was Helen and Paul. I remember something about "she pressed her face into the red nosegays.".
I need to look it up.
I REMEMBER NOW! as I was just typing that I don't remember it just came to me - Helen and Paul saw a woman in black at the bus while they were waiting to get on or just getting off the bus (can't remember that part) - I remember it now because it said that the woman wasn't interested in the bus schedule or checking out any maps, and talking to no one but was watching everything.

I definitely remember the narrator seeing a woman in black at the train station and the narrator getting creeped out by it.

Again, I would've never linked the too. For some reason the second woman in black siting (in ROmania) didn't seem as ominous as the narrator's experience at the train station. But maybe it is the same person.. but if it is, it definitely can't be Helen since Helen and Paul encountered her too.

hmm.. i don't' remember reading that - but doesn't mean it's not true LOL There's so many details in this book it's crazy to keep it all straight - esp when trying to analyze it looking back! I'm thinking maybe the librarians eyes like flashed red for a second and Paul or Helen saw that?? I'm remembering something vaguely like that..? lol

Yeah that sounds about right. Trying to draw a correlation between that and the wolf he saw in the ruins.

That was Rossi that saw the wolf in the ruins, before the guy he was with woke up and they walked down to where the Nazi (well, pre-nazi) people were having a bonfire. But yeah, that is another connection to the whole "vampires can take many forms" thing.

I thought the Librarian had blood-shot eyes....maybe they were red though.

And, I was sure that the woman the narrator saw from the train was Helen. The creepy guy she was trying to get away from was Dracula, I'm sure, but I don't think the woman creeped her out, just the man, no?

I can't say too much about this weeks reading so far I'm only up to Chapter 44. I figure if I ask about something now or make a guess about something things will change in the next 6 chapters. Kind of a funny story. I'm listening to The Historian on my itouch as well as reading to get caught up. Went out to do some shopping and errands with my 12 year old son today and I was listening while driving. Right at chapter 43, he pauses it, and says wait now catch me up. Sure I can totally sum up 42 chapters .

I know the man that she woke up to with the newspaper in her train compartment and who started to chase them was at the very least a vampire, if not Dracula and I know he scared her to death. I think the woman creeped her out a little bit, but maybe I'm not remembering clearly. lol this book can be confusing and everyone remembers different details for one reason or another.

i'm pretty sure the librarian had some type of red eyes, either blood shot or if they were just like a flash of red for a few seconds..
