Default The Time Hunters - A book for children of all ages... only .99 cents

    Hello everyone,

I'm new to Nookboards and would like to invite everyone to look at my book 'The Time Hunters'.

I am proud to say that it became the most successful book on the Harper Collins website 'Authonomy' and was described by one reviewer as 'The natural successor to Harry Potter'.

    Here's the premise:

Becky is a typical thirteen year old English girl. She likes Facebook, gossiping and plenty of sleep. So when she and her brother Joe are invited to stay with their 'loony' Uncle Percy at his stately home, she thinks it’ll be the worst summer ever. What she doesn't realise is that Bowen Hall is also home to a baby Triceratops, two Sabre-tooth tigers and the mythic hero, Will Scarlet...

'The Time Hunters' is a thrilling adventure that takes Becky, Joe, Uncle Percy and Will on a quest through time to find the legendary Golden Fleece.

    The Clock is ticking....

I look forward to meeting you all.

    Carl

How is the second Time Hunters book coming, Carl?

Have you found it tougher to write the second one versus the first?

Just curious, as I'm contemplating writing a sequel to Bloated Goat (when I find time, haha).

    Hi Manley,

I'm brand new to this site. Thanks for the message. As for the second book, well, it's not easy! But that's more about mixing writing with proper work. I wrote the first 'Time Hunters' book on a sabbatical. Saying that, it's going well and I think it's a better story than the first. There's lots of action, intrigue and fun.

Are you writing your sequel? Why wouldn't you? You have a very good series.

Thanks for the kind words, Carl. I haven't started Bloated Goat 2 yet, but I have thought about some possible ideas. I've been working on other stories the last few months...and like you, I have a full-time job and children, so free time is few and far between. Wow, if Time Hunters 2 is anything like the first book, you'll be on the best sellers list for a long time.

Cheers, Manley. Time Hunters has sold pretty well, I think. Saying that, I haven't sold a single copy on the Nook, so if you have any tips for promotion. Are you happy with Bloated Goats sales? It's the promoting bit that I find irksome. Good luck with your new stories. It's harder for us children's writers at the moment than other genre writers (paranormal YA) but I really do think ereaders are they way forward for kids.

Yes, the self-promotion and self-advertising is the crux of the matter. Very time consuming. You seem to have a great following of people on the Amazon forums which help you promote (by starting threads, keeping threads alive, etc), but I haven't gotten to that point yet. So, my Kindle sales are only 1/3 of my NOOK sales. I'm doing the same amount of self-promotion on both platforms, so I don't know what the difference is. And you are absolutely right about our genre...but I hope it keeps growing and more children's book lovers will adopt an ereader. Best of of luck to you, also.

Yes, I've been lucky. I've had a few people on Amazon that have been wildly keen on the book and have befriended each other and therefore keep a Time Hunters thread alive. They're also really nice people and it's been great getting to know them. I'm not so familiar (being English) with the Nook or indeed, Barnes and Noble, so I guess I'll have to find my way around these sites.

I shall give 'Bloated Goat' support, too, on my virtual travels
