Default "Urban fantasy in a category all its own!" - The Heretic - now just $0.99

In light of the holiday here in the US, I’m offering ebook editions of my novel, The Heretic, book one of the internationally bestselling Templar Chronicles urban fantasy series, for just $0.99!

Modern Templar knights acting as a secret combat arm of the Vatican, tasked with defending mankind from supernatural threats and enemies. Necromancers, spectres, and the walking dead. Ancient relics and secret rituals. I mean, seriously, what’s not to like?

Originally published by Pocket Books, The Heretic also debuted on the German paperback bestseller list, was adapted into a six issue comic mini-series in the UK, and was optioned for a few years for feature film production.

This is the book that Clive Barker called “first-rate, stylish work” and Kelley Armstrong said was a “breakneck thriller that delivers on the thrills and tosses in more than a few more chills.”

In other words, it’s a book urban fantasy fans don’t want to miss!

    Here’s a short summary:

A chance encounter with one of the Hellspawn left Cade Williams with certain unique traits, including the ability to walk between the lands of the living and those of the dead. Now, as commander of the Echo Team, the special operations unit within the Templar hierarchy, he has devoted his life to using his “gifts” to protect mankind from the things that lurk in the darkness.

When a Templar commandery is invaded and its occupants mercilessly slaughtered, Knight Commander Williams is called in to hunt down those responsible. His investigation quickly leads him to a cabal of necromancers known as the Council of Nine.

    There’s only one problem.

The necromancers are allied with the same supernatural creature that left Cade for dead five years before. A creature so powerful that the Templars know it only as the Adversary.

In order to stop the killing, Cade will be forced to face his own personal demons. Not just those deep inside his heart, but also the one that left him scarred, body and soul.

The same demon that has already beaten him once before…

    Five Stars!

While this book is labelled as "Urban Fantasy", it deserves a special category of its own. Magic and mystery play a large role in the story without the romance that so often overwhelms many other urban fantasy books. We meet the Templars in this book: a large army broken into many small units, all under the command of the Vatican. Cade Williams leads an elite faction with special talents that come to light throughout the story. Nassise does an incredible job of weaving the past with the present, giving enough background to flesh out characters without bogging down with unneeded detail. Nassise's ability to create scenes is masterful, giving vivid descriptions of natural and supernatural settings and beings alike. The story is fast-paced without feeling like pieces are missing. This story will draw you in from the start and will compel you to finish it as quickly as possible, simply to see what happens next.
