I've used handbreak to convert some home movies that I transfered from film to my computer but when I try the above instructions to convert a DVD Handbreak just sits there and errors.

Stripping and cracking DRM on commercial DVDs is illegal in the United States so let's not go into details in this discussion, please.

theandies, you might want to do a google search to find a little more information on what you want to do. I know it is possible.
