Default Honeycomb on the Nook Color - if only it would work ...

I was following one of the threads on this web site about rooting the Nook Color using an sd card. The post included this web site

    http://forum.androidcentral.com/barnes-noble-nook-color/57500-how-download-install-honeycomb-nook-color-sd-card.html

When I went to that web site the instructions were:

    1) Download the image (done),

    2) Get an sd card of at least 4 GB (done),

    3) Download WinImage and use it to create a boot sd card (done),

    4) Power the Nook Color off, insert the card and boot to Honeycomb (done),

    5) Download the Android Market and the GoogleServicesFramework (done),

    6) Place the files in your adb tools folder (HUH??)

What adb tools folder? What adb? There was nothing in the instructions that I saw that referred to adb.

Where do I get it? And what version do I use? Is this the reason I cannot see the booted Honeycomb Nook? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

So do I take it that Honeycomb is not working at all or just that you (like me) are confused by the steps required to set up the Android Market??

I used the same web site that you link to here and have gotten Honeycomb up and running on my NC first try. I have not as yet worked on the steps for the Android Market although that is the next thing on my to do list.

Let me know where you are in the process and maybe we can help each other along the way.

Although any of our real tech types can feel free to jump in here at any time. This particular set of instructions seems to assume an awful lot of basic understanding.

    Android Debug Bridge = ADB
    http://developer.android.com/guide/d...tools/adb.html has a great definition.
This is unfortunately glossed over in a lot of instructions as "assumed" knowledge.
The adb tools folder should just be where the adb.exe file is located.
You could do a quick google search on 'nook color adb install' and you should get hits for video/text install instructions for the nook.

Side Note: I saved myself time/frustration by installing a little android market app called, "adbwireless".
When run on a rooted android device it allows adb connection/commands across wifi with your PC/Mac instead of having to plug the device in physically. If I remember correctly, this avoids having to install specific device drivers for the android device (nook, etc). I'm very lazy you see...
    peace out...

Well, adbwireless works on my CM7 microSD card booted nook color. It also works when I remove the microSD card and boot 1.2 rooted (manualnooter internal mem). I mainly use it for quicky .apk installs, etc (i.e. run adbwireless on nook, look at the URL it displays, sit down at PC and start cmd shell typing in, 'adb connect <url_from_adbwireless>'. bang, nook connected from PC). For a more lengthy adb session I do physically plug the nook in but not very often.

Here's a good resource for installing ADB on Windows PC if it hasn't been posted already from the good folks over at xda-developers:

    peace out...
