Default help rooting nook color. error formatting data

I have been trying to root my color. i have used auto nooter and putting cm7 on it. nothing is working correctly. it seems to have a combination of everything now. i think one problem is that the there is an error formatting the data. i have even tried to hook it to my computer and it wont recognize it. it wont even load anymore, it is stuck on the nook color screen. anyone have any advice?

hold the power button and home button when turning the nook on and don't let go until it asks if you want to do a factory restore and hit "Yes", then try installing CM7 again, GL

Make sure you have the latest files. I had that same problem and found out that I didn't have the latest files.

After having that problem and stuggling the same way you did, I gave up and bought an N2A card and love it. Takes all the work out of it and considering you don't lose the stock nook and boot from the card is great. Plus it's easy to upgrade to newer versions. I really enjoy having it.

riderforlife13 is right. It's due to a change B&N made in the way the internal memory card is partitioned. Before May, I think, Nook Color devices had 5GB for user content and 1GB for B&N content. after that they swapped partition sizes so newer NCs have 5GB for B&N content and 1GB for user content. The older Clockworkmod is not compatible with the new devices.

The instructions and links to the files you need to download are here:
